The Paw’erful North Pitt High School Dance Program provides students with the opportunity to participate in a school related artistic programs to develop relationships, sportsmanship, performance skills, and character as well as professional development. Above all, dancers will always model P.A.W.E.R.

Powerful - Authentic - Wholesome - Elegant - Radiant

Dancers will be introduced to movement skills, diverse subjects, and historical and cultural issues through the aesthetics of dance. Their development of fundamental dance technique is enriched and enlivened through study of works by a variety of diverse artists, developing genre- specific movement vocabulary and dance terminology, and building knowledge and skills related to somatic practices, dance composition, analysis of effort and outcomes, dance history and culture, collaborative work, and rehearsal and performance protocols.

Dance develops lifelong skills and perspectives of the learners enhancing the abilities to create dances and relate experiences through dance.

Level Two dance course that is available for students that have taken Dance Foundations.

LEVEL ONE: DANCE FOUNDATIONS

Level One dance course that is available for all students.

LEVEL TWO: INTERMEDIATE DANCE

Level Four Honors dance course that is available for students that would like to be inducted into the National Honors Society of Dance Arts.

LEVEL THREE: PROFICIENT DANCE

Level Three Honors dance course that is available for students that would like to be inducted into the National Honors Society of Dance Arts.

DANCE TEAM Q&A

Students that attend North Pitt High School can join the dance team during tryouts. We host two tryout sessions during the school year.

Football Season: August - November l Basketball Season: December - March

Our Spring Tryouts are during the month of May for Fall Season during Football Games. Our Fall Tryouts are during the month of November for Spring Season during Basketball Games.

How can you join the dance team?

You do not NEED any prior dance experience to be on the team. All you need is a positive spirit, good energy, dedication and determination to be on the team. We do not tolerate bad attitudes or bad vibes. We encourage, uplift and motivate each other to be better. Each student that would like to tryout MUST fill out an online registration form prior to tryouts.

Do I have to have prior dancing experience?

NPHS Dance Team tryouts are a two day process afterschool from 3:45pm-5pm. There will be an interest meeting during Homeroom in Coach Tee’s room (Rm 301). The meeting is mandatory for all students that want to tryout. Day one, Coach Tee will do a pre-assessment for each dancer and teach choreography. On day two, dancers will audition and perform in groups the choreography that was taught the day before. At the end of day three, the new dance team list will go out.

Tryout Requirement: Dance Team Interest Meeting (10:00am-10:30am)

Day One: Dance Team Workshop (3:45pm-5:30pm)

Day Two: Dance Team Tryout Day (3:45pm-5:30pm)
